Woody Substance

2020

Wood, air clay

In a hidden corner of the Druid Hill Park, there is a piece of dead wood that has no visible signs of human entry near it. Using nearby dried branches and air clay, I built a stable but light structure on top of it as my intervention in the natural space.

The original plan was that I would visit it once a day to see how it changed under the sun, wind, and rain, and how nature would intervene in my intervention. But unfortunately, the order for quarantine was issued immediately afterwards. Until September 2021, I was able to come here again. The dead wood had disappeared, and with the dry branches on the ground, I wondered how much of the remains I had ever touched. More were probably new dead branches that had gently fallen in the past year and a half.
